COVID-19 Lead Times and Delays
COVID-19 has caused many changes to everyday life, including an increased demand for garden furniture. With more staycations than getaways, our products are being sold faster than ever before. Before COVID-19, stock would be available to purchase year around, including throughout spring and summer. However, this year many of our products sold out in the winter months due to the exceptional demand, meaning most orders being placed now have estimated delivery dates for the Autumn and beyond.
This nationwide increased demand is causing longer lead times for our products, and the coronavirus pandemic has impacted our operations in many ways. The demand for products from China this year has increased significantly, leading to a shortage of shipping containers and a lack of available space on shipping vessels. This has caused delayed arrivals of many vessels arriving into Europe, meaning lead times are longer. To ensure safety of staff and to abide by self-isolation laws, some ports have been forced to close entirely due to positive coronavirus cases. Additionally, some of our containers were directly affected by the blockage in the Suez Canal which extended delays further.
Congestion at ports in both China and the UK is extending the time it takes for containers to be processed through the ports, which is causing closures in order to cope with the backlog. Vessels are having to wait outside ports for much longer than before to be unloaded, therefore it is taking us longer to receive the goods into our warehouse after docking. Furthermore, increased demand has placed additional pressure on our couriers. We are working tirelessly to ensure deliveries run smoothly once in the UK, however there may be some additional delays in receiving your order once in the courier’s possession.
Although some ranges are unfortunately facing delays, we are proud to still be fulfilling many orders before the estimated delivery dates that we have given. We are working closely with our suppliers and couriers to minimise all delays where possible. Where your desired product is out of stock or the wait is too long, our friendly staff will give our best efforts to source a suitable alternative ensuring you receive a product you are happy with.
Our suppliers are still working hard to manufacture garden furniture to the highest standards which are made to last - we promise you it’s worth the wait.
When placing your order, please refer to the stated estimated delivery dates on the product page and your order confirmation. Our team works incredibly hard to ensure the delivery process operates as smoothly as possible, however we only advise estimated delivery dates and our team would not promise any dates, so please consider that delivery may occur later than originally estimated.
We want to reassure you that we completely appreciate the frustration behind order delays, however, COVID-19 related delays are unfortunately beyond our control and are not something we can compensate for (regardless of pre-arranged plans). Our staff are working around the clock to ensure that our customers receive continued, excellent customer service during these unprecedented times and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.
As a result of the current issues, garden furniture has experienced unforeseen price increases this year. The increased demand and subsequent shipping crisis has meant that sea freight charges have increased by as much as 10 times compared to prices this time last year. In order to continue shipping orders from overseas, suppliers have had no choice but to increase prices to enable delivery of products into your gardens. Although prices are higher during these unprecedented times, we want to assure that there is no compromise on quality. We are confident that our products not only look stylish, but they are made to last - meaning you will be left extremely satisfied with your TALOR purchase!
